Wasatch Pixels Multiplexer

A multiplexer board that allows you to connect multiple boards to the same pixel string (Falcon Controller, Kulp Contorller and WLED Controller, etc)

This board allows you to connect multiple LED controllers such as a Falcon or Kulp and an ESP-based (ESP8266 or ESP32 or WT32-ETH01) WLED controller to the same string of LED lights. This allows you to you use your Falcon, Kulp, or other commercial LED controller for sequenced light shows. At the same time, you can have a WLED controller also connected to your light string so that you can have control of your lights via web or phone app through the WLED program.

Commercial boards such as the Kulp or Falcon boards are great for pixel control. However, they don’t allow you to control the lights via a phone or web app. This Multiplexer Board allows you to have the capability to control lights via WLED when you’re not running a sequenced light show. It works for WS2811/WS2812 and other protocols supported by WLED, Falcon, or Kulp controllers.

To use the board, connect 5V and ground to power the board. Connect your WLED controller to the Data 1 terminal(Ground, Data, and Relay) and your second controller (usually a Falcon or Kulp controller or even another WLED controller) to the Data 2 terminal. Connect the Data and Ground inputs of your LED light sting to the Data Output on the right side of the Multiplexer Board.

When you switch on your WLED controller via the web or phone app, the relay signal will indicate to the Multiplexer Board to select the WLED controller as the LED light data source. When power is selected off in the WLED app, the Multiplexer Board defaults to use data from the other data source.

This board will work for both 5V and 12V pixels. However, you’ll need to supply the Multiplexer Board with 5V. (A voltage converter/buck converter works well to take 12V to 5V to supply the proper voltage.)
